Luigi Poli, founder

Luigi Poli was a real pioneer in Italy when, during the 80′s, he specialized in design and production of machines and plants for the extrusion and transformation of foamed plastics.

Poli founded FAP in 1987 in the heart of the productive Brianza area and in a few years, thanks to his technical skills and entrepreneurial spirit, he established the company making it one of the main European players in the production of: foam twin-screw counter rotating extrusion lines completed with automatic winders, laminating plants and different cutting and welding machine or units.

At FAP, every machine is more than a piece of technology – it is the result of a journey made together with our customers.
We believe true innovation comes from listening: years of dialogue with production teams have shaped proprietary solutions capable of combining precision, efficiency, and sustainability.

Each line we design is custom-built, meeting the standards of Industry 4.0 and ensuring total control over energy consumption, raw materials, gas, and processing parameters. This means not just producing, but producing better – with measurable results in quality, competitiveness, and reliability.

Our story is rooted in values: quality, flexibility, and reliability. These pillars have allowed us to deliver not only foam extrusion lines, but also tailor-made solutions for complex inline and offline lamination, flexible material cutting and welding, and winding – technologies increasingly requested across very different markets. Every plant is conceived to adapt to the specific needs of our customers, always customizable and always evolving with them.

Since 2020, Fabrizio and Francesco Poli, guiding the company into its second generation, FAP continues to evolve. The mission remains unchanged: to co-engineer with our customers the solutions that will shape their growth, while staying true to the authenticity of Made in Italy craftsmanship.

Birth of new FAP VELA brand

Resumption of designing and machine construction with full technical service for Vela’s customers. FAP has always been inspired by the versatile solutions of the Spanish company Vela which represents the surname of its founder and inventor. Due to this fact the new FAP VELA brand was born: the union of their passions for high-performance and intuitive solutions and international experience. This fusion will allow to approach the market with the extension of the new range of solutions, which are extremely versatile machines for the packaging sector (foam, film and bubble wrap): cutting machines, welding machines and folders.

New Production Site of FAP

The project involves expanding the production area, installation of complete foam extrusion line to making the industrial test, expansion of Italian Foam Centre - research and development laboratory - looking toward innovations and fruitful collaborations with clients. Construction of the new production site is currently underway.

Vision

We believe that it is possible to produce expanded films through increasingly high-performance technologies that protect the environment in which we live. Our goal is the constant improvement of what we design and build.

Mission

We aim to increase our plants’ productivity to ensure our Customers’ competitiveness. We are constantly searching for solutions to reduce energy consumption and working to improve the stability of our plants processes upgrading their performance.
